Quantum Computing: Friend or Foe? Part 1

Bill Trost
Widespread quantum computing may be as life changing as the advent of electricity in how we conduct every aspect of our lives. Quantum computing clearly has potential benefits to mankind in the fields of health and medicine, pharmaceuticals, engineering, telecom, and much more. But these new devices will also break current encryption algorithms, requiring a paradigm shift in the way we secure our information assets and transact business across the internet. Will we be ready? Do we have the technologies and solutions to mitigate the security risks that come with quantum computing? These two talks will illuminate the positives of quantum computing, explain the risk to current encryption and review available mitigations.
